RALPH STEVENS

Business Administration - 1969

What brought you to Mohawk College?

I received a call from J Marko the sports director asking me to come to Mohawk and play for their hockey team. He found out that I turned down 2 USA scholarships and was undecided how far I could leave my dad who was very ill in Welland . He drove down to Welland to offer some financial help from the school and a charity in St Catharines. My parents agreed and low and behold I went to Mohawk for 3 years and had very successful years on their hockey team.

Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?

Meeting so many long time friends, especially on the hockey teams. Living in different accommodations in different parts of Hamilton.

What impact has Mohawk had on your life?

I landed a truly successful working life with IBM Canada. My baseline experience in Administration and Marketing made me valuable to them for 41 years.

What are you up to now?

Retired, married, 5 grandchildren, still playing hockey 3 times a week in Cookstown Ontario.
