What brought you to Mohawk College?
I had moved to Hamilton from Thunder Bay a few years prior. I have not graduated high-school and never intended on going to College. At 28 years old after having been working in call centers and doing thankless jobs I decided to apply to Mohawk to get my GED and go on to do Pre Tech and CS. This school had great reviews especially for mature students. I was not disappointed!
Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?
Despite being out of school over a decade, any time I struggled there were always great resources for help, wether it be my student advisor Sharon Scollard or assistance with food and other resources through the student union, I always felt supported.
What impact has Mohawk had on your life?
The biggest impact! After attending Mohawk my life has been a steady escalation of learning and working in a respected field. I am no longer the high-school drop out working for minimum wage with no ability to excel. Graduating from Mohawk College is my proudest accomplishment.
What are you up to now?
I work in IT as a Software Performance Analyst for a top P&C insurer Definity Financial and have been involved in numerous award winning technical innovations in the insurance industry.
