What brought you to Mohawk College?

At a young age I aspired to be an Architect or builder after a visit to the CN Tower in 1976. When I learned Mohawk College had an Architectural Technology program I wanted to remain in my hometown on continue my education after high school to pursue my dreams of being an Architect or builder.

Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?

I learned very quickly that I was not creative enough to be an Architect, thanks to professor feedback on early projects. I thank the professors for their honest feedback. Knowing this I shifted my focus to pay attention to technical details throughout the course aspiring to be a constructor. The best experience is meeting amazing people that I am still connected with 35 years later.

What impact has Mohawk had on your life?

I learned how to be a student that wants to learn. With this solid foundation I became curious and committed to being the best that I could be in a very dynamic construction industry. At Mohawk and during co-op work terms it became clear to me that learning never ends and I can safely say I am forever a student that has learned how to teach and share my knowledge and experience.

What are you up to now?

I am part of the PCL family of construction companies founded in 1906. Everyday I aspire to be a respected builder of projects in communities where I live, work and play. Proudly I have completed two hospital projects in Hamilton for St. Joseph’s Healthcare. Today, I am the project lead for the Operations, Maintenance, and Storage Facility as part of the Hurontario LRT project.
