CAROL-ANN MCNEIL

Broadcasting - Radio - 2019

What brought you to Mohawk College?

Broadcasting a weekly radio show on CJPE: 99.3 County FM radio was a goal, following retirement from my 31 year teaching career. Living and working in Hamilton, enrolling in Radio Broadcasting at Mohawk College proved to be an ideal fit. I wanted the Radio Broadcasting program at Mohawk College to facilitate the next phase of my life. And it has.

Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?

Broadcasting radio with my classmates on Ignite Radio and CIOI Mohawk College Radio 101.5 FM : shouting out "Miami Bounce Crew", "Class Act", "Friday Prekend", Emily V., Colin W. and Scotty G.. Radio people are my people, and the many fond memories of Mohawk's Radio Broadcasting Class of 2019 make me smile.

What impact has Mohawk had on your life?

Radio Broadcasting at Mohawk College expanded my skill set: more sophisticated computer skills, the ability to broadcast my weekly radio show remotely, writing scripts for the ear, crafting and voicing advertisements, live broadcasting skills, sound editing, street team skills, broadcasting with others, learning broadcast requirements of the CRTC. Radio Broadcasting at Mohawk College provided the equipment and teaching staff to foster radio broadcasting success in its students.

What are you up to now?

Achieving a retirement from teaching goal by broadcasting a weekly 4-hour radio show, the "Friday Afternoon Drive with Carol-Ann McNeil" on CJPE: 99.3 County FM, the station of my choice for radio broadcasting. Celebrating 3 years at the wheel of the "Friday Afternoon Drive-mobile" the last Friday of December, 2023. Listen Live: https://www.993countyfm.ca
