CARALEE BOLTON

Nursing - 1997

What brought you to Mohawk College?

I took the diploma RN program in Brantford, graduated in 1997 from the BGH campus. I got hired on the pediatric floor and worked there for 6 months. After that I got a part time position on the surgical floor, spent 9 years there before taking the Operating Room Certification through Mohawk in Hamilton. I got a full time job in the OR at BGH and ended up taking the RNFA Certification through Mohawk college as well! I am a proud alumni of Mohawk and promote it as much as possible!

Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?

At Mohawk we had smaller classes and we were able to connect with fellow classmates and the teachers!! Having a small group experience I feel helped prepare us all to be the best nurses we could because we had more one on one time with teachers and labs!

What impact has Mohawk had on your life?

Huge impact. Mohawk prepared me for the most rewarding career!! I've been able to advance my career with using Mohawk College's Continuing Education courses as well!!

What are you up to now?

I am a full time RNFA working in a community hospital. I do research part time and published some papers! I also have been working on an app for our joint replacement patients so they can have valuable information at their fingertips pre operative and post operative! And I have been very involved in creating our Same Day home joint replacement program at Brant Community Healthcare System! I am currently the Orthopaedic Resource Nurse as well specializing in Arthroplasty and Sports med! I am a wife of 26 years and a proud mother of two kids in university!!
